Hong Kong College of Cardiology
The Hong Kong College of Cardiology (HKCC) was formed in January 1992, its predecessor being the Hong Kong Cardiological Society established as early as 1967. The HKCC assumed the seats of the representatives of the Hong Kong Cardiological Society in the International Federation of Society of Cardiology (IFSC), now the World Heart Federation (WHF), and the Asian-Pacific Society of Cardiology (APSC). There are now over 300 fully accredited fellows, including adult and pediatric cardiologists, cardiovascular surgeons, anesthetists, and scientists dedicated to study of cardiovascular medicine, independent of the Academy of Medicine. The HKCC aims to maintain the standard of cardiovascular practice, and works towards improving the heart health of Hong Kong people.
The HKCC regularly organizes scientific meetings and courses on cardiology for its members and the medical profession. Notably, an Annual Scientific Congress to allow exchange of experience between fellows, trainees and overseas visitors of repute in the field of cardiovascular medicine is held in May or June every year.
